Unpredictable

Heey hey!! So I decided to have a good week and have fun but I had no plans atall. Unpredictable was the order of the week.

The team at work had our 1st off site work meeting this week. I was so excited, who has meetings in a bar? WE DO!! And no, we didn’t drink on company time.

Venue: Beer brothers, downtown Regina.

1821 Scarth St, Regina, SK S4P 2G9

My thoughts:

I was not a fan of the drinks menu. No drinks for light drinkers, mostly beers. A wide selection of beers. Not even cocktails. Maybe, I should have asked the waiter if one could be made. I had a glass of Siblings wine, white wine. I had originally wanted a glass of Pinot Grigio, but they were out.  The Siblings wine was really sweet, definitely a drink for those who are trying to “venture” into white wine. Haha! Who says venture into wine? The price wasn’t too bad($9) but I wish my glass was at least ¾ full. I promise; I’m not an alcoholic.

Siblings wine

My co-workers swear by the Caesar drinks. Two of them had the Caesar. It was definitely worth the price judging by the size of it. I’ve never had a Caesar but I plan on trying it someday. Who puts Tabasco in their drink though?

Caesar drinkWe got appetizers; Beer Bros. Frites and Salt & Pepper Stout Chicken Wings. The frites was a little on the oily side and the wings were “different” but they were actually pretty good. Definitely my first time trying beer fried wings. We are being adventurous.. whhoop

Beer brothers definitely got packed after working hours, like packed!! Popular local hangout? YES! I loved the ambiance; it was very relaxed and chilled. Most people came in big groups, and you could tell everyone was having a good time.i The room got loud after a while so I would not recommend this restaurant for a date. The temperature was perfect, not all that -34 degrees happening outside. I wish there was a coat check area just so there’s enough room on the table.

Hospitality was fantastic. The waiters were really nice and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Cornwall mall

Hmmn, i’m still trying to decide how I feel about it.For a small city the mall is relatively big, I had pictured a small mall with 10 stores. I’m sorry Regina. Lol

I am not so impressed by the fact that there’s no zara, h&m, forever 21.. lol REALLY???LIKE WHO DOES THAT? *indoor voice missy, indoor voice*

Thanks to Mr inventor of internet, everything is done online these days.  On the up side, almost everything at the mall is on sale!!! I recently got this amazing sweater from RW&CO, 40% OFF.

Friday January 31st:

Venue: Newtown restaurant, downtown Regina

Happy year of the Horse!!! So it’s Chinese new year, one of my co-workers invited me for dinner with her friends. I’m glad I decided to attend, great food and company.

My thoughts:

We decided to each order something and have a mini buffet at our table. Everything was hot and fresh when delivered. It was relatively cheap, we each spent approximately $15. The staff was very helpful, she explained pretty much the whole menu as I’m a very picky eater.

The girls and I are already planning a mini trip to Moose jaw to check out the Temple gardens mineral spa. I am excited to say the least.

Great start to my weekend.

Pilot

Hi, I’m Crystal. Ha-ha, no I’m not. But let’s call me Crystal for now.

So I have decided to start blogging because… for the past two weeks, I have spent my evenings being lazy (catching up on my many shows for 2 hours, making lunch for work and then falling asleep). Not productive in any way.  I just finished watching “The Tudors”, it was ah-mazing. It’s a TV show centered on the English monarchy. Who knew history could be so interesting. My favourite character has to be Anne Boleyn. I digress.

I intend on having a schedule for my day and including blogging and reading time to it. I am currently reading the book of Negroes; it’s basically a young girl recounting her life through the slave times. I did not have the chance to study history, so I thought I’d educate myself a little.  *I lovee making lists, that I don’t necessarily follow*. Hopefully I can stick to this. Yeah yeah, lame blog name *next*

I moved to Regina 3 weeks ago because I got an internship here (Thank you Jesus, I was getting really fed up of job hunting), and to my surprise I cannot for the life of me find anything to do. I mean, I’m not so “Carrie and the city” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZjr5yJe6Y0 but there’s nothing to do.

So I decided to explore Regina; and share with you (I’m not sure anyone is reading this ha-ha) my findings it and update my friends on my life here. It cannot be as bad I am told. 1 point for Positive Polly.

I’ll also include a list of events happening in Regina. I definitely will not be able to attend all as

·   I do not know my way around

·    I don’t drive *shamelessly covers face * Driving school lessons are def. starting soon.

·    I’m on a budget.

·   And its soo cold. Every day is a new low. Layer up people, layer up. Thanks sazzle for the lessons. The hemp oil lip balm I got from this little corner store is my new best friend.

I intend on putting up a post 3 times a week maybe, just so the list of events are current.

So let’s explore and see what Regina has to offer.

My first weekend here wasn’t as half bad apart from the fact that the bed I got from jysk failed me less than a week of getting it. That’s what I get for being “cheap”. The bed wasn’t even that cheap. What had happened was that, the wooden panels that were meant to support the bed came off. I knew they wouldn’t last but 5 days?? Caaaaaman. So I took them out and got a box spring to act as a base.

Sunday night, I was invited for dinner by friends of friends, somebody say networking. Great company, they were a “show” to watch. I just sat and observed, pitching in once in a while.

Venue: Fireside Bistro, downtown Regina.

My thoughts: The building looked very fancy. I ordered the Catalina Linguini with grilled tiger prawn as my add-on ($6 for prawns?? Because of why?)
*deep sigh

It was very yummy, I enjoyed every bite of this meal, a tad bit expensive ($21). The portions were large. I left feeling like I was in my first trimester.

Dessert?? No room for that. We’ll be back for that.

I apologize for not having pictures, to show you
